This song took approximately two months to write and record. Coincidentally it was finished on May 27th 2004....63 years to the day, that BISMARCK was sunk by the Royal Navy. We dedicate this song to the courageous crew of H.M.S. HOOD and to "Those in peril on the sea." During the battle for Naval supremacy of the North Atlantic, The HOOD was destroyed by the BISMARCK and over 1400 men gave their lives that fateful day, only three crew members survived.
This song was inspired by the 1960 movie "Sink the Bismarck". What we have attempted to do, is encapsulate the essence of the movie in just 7 minutes 24 seconds - To achieve this ambitious goal, we have used about two minutes of various sound bytes from the actual movie. Around these sound bytes we have woven about five minutes of original lyrics.
The song is part Broadway Show, Part War Movie, with a dash of Spaghetti Western thrown in for good measure.
